NEWBIES
The Newbie - Someone new to something
The No0b - Someone who begs, lies, steals, and tries to get out of things other people need to work for.

I wouldn't worry about being a Newbie.  Everyone has to start sometime or somewhere.  But a No0b is a big problem.  No0bs try to get rich quick, ask/beg for expensive things, complain paintbrushes etc. are too expensive, lie and post spam board on Neopets, and are a big pain.  I would never want to be called a No0b, that is almost like swearing at somone, in Neopets terms that is.

Pets
May I suggest something.  When you are new to Neopets, create ONE pet only.  Yes, the pets look so cool and they are so great when you first join, but you have to feed them and take care of them.  So in your first few months, only have one pet.  And what's even worse is when you have all four pets and a new even better one comes out, which you can't have, since you are only allowed four.

To abandon pets costs NP too.  Sure if you're rich 50, 100, 250NP is like nothing.  But when you are scrounging for NP and playing every single game for 5 here 10 there, it's not worth it.  And it's painful, though you would think it wouldn't be, to give up a pet.

Shops
Shops are a great way to make neopoints.  But first you have to have neopoints so you can buy things.  At the beginning of the game, you are given 200NP and 50NP for every pet you create.  Take that 250NP and buy cheap items.  No, not 1NP rotten berries because NO ONE buys them unless it's for a trade or collection, which doesn't happen often.  You also won't be making a profit.  Buy a couple omelettes, go to Jelly World and Tyrannia and get free food, look for promotions of some kind, and then put that into your shop.

When pricing, DON'T USE WHAT THE ITEM INFO TELLS YOU.  Neo tells you what it's worth to them.  You could put a Flaming Faerie Pizza for 200NP and then look in the Shop Wizard, and it's only worth 40.  I suggest bringing up 2 seperate windows, one of your item stock and one of the shop wizard.  Look everything in your shop up in the Wizard and price yours accordingly.  Do you want it a couple NP cheaper than the lowest price, or a couple higher so you make a profit?  I suggest comparing prices so your item sells fairly and you don't jip someone or sell too cheap and jip yourself.

Lastly, don't be fooled.  When shopping, be a smart consumer.  If you look something up in the Wizard and you find the cheapest, remember that users name, refresh a couple times, and then see if there is a lower price.  If not, go back to that shop and buy the item.  If you know it's the cheapest you'll find, don't bother.  OR if you find something in a shop you're SURE if the prefect price, check again in a seperate browser and you could find it extremely cheaper, then you could make an even bigger profit.

And always to get people to your shop, go to the Shops board and advertise.

Guilds
Guilds are tricky.  There are so many out there, which one do you join.  Well what are you looking for?  Your favorite celebrity?  Your favorite movies?  A Neo related guild?  A role playing guild?  An avie guild?  You have to decide.  The easiest way to get a selection is post on the Guild Boards "Guildless".  It's not original, but it works.  Be sure to put what you're looking for in the message, but it doesn't mean people won't post duds too.  Check out each guild and if you find the perfect one, great, if not, keep looking.

When looking for a guild you should be looking for what they do.  Do they have a webbie?  Are there newbie packs?  Is it a chat guild?  Are there many members?  You have to consider this too because you may join a guild that does NOTHING, and waste your time there.

...Starting A Guild...
When starting a guild, be sure you're ready for the responsibilty.  Guilds take a lot of work.  As owner of your guild you need to run activites like auctions, trades, and chats.  You also need to do things like newbie/birthday packs and giveaways.  Or you have to choose people in your guild to do it for you.  That takes a lot of time and effort.

When starting a guild, you should make your own layout.  There are some people who can't and that's perfectly fine, but find someone who can.  When joining a guild many people (not me) look at if your layout is premade or not.  If you have no layout at all and just words, then you really won't get any members.  They usually have to be pleasing to the eye.  People also look at if you have  webbie for your guild.  That's relavtively easy if you know where to go for free (or paid if you want) hosting.  Tripod is great because you don't really need to do anything if you don't want to but fill in the text, and it's free.

Be sure to advertise too once your guild is finished at the boards.

Games
Games are an important part of Neopets.  Games are many Neopians main source of income.  There is really nothing to this but play as many as well as you possibly can.  The higher your score, the bigger amount of NP you will recieve.  And you can only send your score 3 times so if you get a score and just KNOW you can do better, try it.

Good games to play at first are the easy ones.  They're simple and a great way to make NP quickly.  You won't get discouraged quickly.  GREAT games to play are sponsors games like PS2, Lmtd. Too, or ToonTown(Disney) and album games like Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, Jesse McCartney, and Fan_3.  Usually these games are personality quizzes (which you don't even have to look at but can still make 200 or so NP), simple trivia, or matching games.  They are usually the easiest and the quickest way to make tons of NP.

Freebies, Wheels, Etc.
Visit Tyrannian Plateau for free omelette once everyday.
Visit Jellyworld for free jelly once everyday.
You can go to the Money Tree in Neopia Central any time you would like and TRY to get neopoints or items from there.  You have to be quick because they are usually gone within seconds and there is no guarantee you will get something.
You can spin the Wheel of Excitement in Faerie World for 150NP and maybe possibily get a pleasant surprise.
You can spin the Wheel of Misfortuane in the Haunted Woods and get a not so pleasant surprise.
You can spin the Wheel of Mediocricity in Tyrannia and maybe possibly get something good.
You can spin the Wheel of Monotony and wait several hours to possibly get something GREAT or something not worth your time.
If you have NP in the bank everyday you can collect interest, the amount depending on how many you have invested.
Every December the Advent Calendar gives out prizes or toys, food, and NP everyday.
Neopets promotions such as McDonald's would give out prizes everyday for a given amount of time such as the Advent Calendar.
There are Random Events such as finding 10NP on the floor to potions, map pieces, and codestones.  (I usually sell map pieces and make a GREAT profit.)

Now I'm not a total dork! I have Original HUT Graphics!
